Vegas Food & Fun has had such an exciting start to 2023, and we want to keep the excitement going with the acquisition of RoyalHotelVegas.com. Royal Resort Hotel hasn’t operated in Las Vegas since 2021. The closure of a hotel is never a good thing, but we’re excited to share information on the incredible hotels in Las Vegas that are still open to customers.

Royal Resort Hotel undoubtedly left its mark on the city, and now it’s time for Vegas Food & Fun to help other resorts do the same!

History of Royal Resort Hotel

Royal Resort Hotel was a non-gaming hotel located right behind Wynn Las Vegas. The convenient location brought guests just steps away from the Las Vegas Strip, but unfortunately, there’s more to being a successful Las Vegas resort than just a good location.

Royal Resort was one of the few non-casino hotels in Las Vegas. A casino isn’t a requirement to be successful in the city, but non-gaming hotels have to work harder in other areas to make the guest experience spectacular. Royal Resort had the potential to do just that with cozy pool cabanas, an outdoor pool, a spa, free wifi and parking, an onsite bar, and Majestik Theater.

Customer reviews from those that stayed at Royal Resort Hotel are inconsistent at best. Google has 1,265 reviews currently, with an average rating of 3.7 stars. Some customers note a wonderful experience with helpful staff, while others complained about lackluster rooms and poor cleanliness standards in the hotel.

Unfortunately, Royal Resort Hotel felt pressure after Covid-19 hit the Las Vegas travel industry in 2020. The impact of the pandemic proved to be too much for this resort which officially closed its doors in 2021. There was not much noise around the closing of Royal Resort at the time. That could be blamed on the craze created by the pandemic, but it could also be a result of the hotel not sharing many details as they decided to close.

One day, it became apparent that the phone number to Royal Resort no longer worked, their web address was expiring, and the hotel had closed its doors for good. That brings us to the present day. While much of Vegas is still recovering from the pandemic, Vegas Food and Fun is excited to share everything the city has to offer with our readers!

If you’ve stayed at Royal Resort Hotel before and want a similar experience, Platinum Hotel may be a good fit. For those that want a new Las Vegas experience, the hotels on and off the Strip will not disappoint.

Hotels in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the most in-demand tourist locations in the US when it comes to hotels. In 2022, it was estimated that Las Vegas had about 150,857 hotel rooms! At Vegas Food and Fun, we work to provide the most accurate, up-to-date info on hotels in the city. Tourists and locals alike can use that info to plan a stress-free trip perfectly tailored to their needs.

From the incredible pool complex at Mandalay Bay to the fountains at Bellagio, you can find all the information you need on one website. There is no shortage of great hotels in Las Vegas to recommend, either! New additions to the city, like Resorts World have modern, exciting amenities with rooms that will take your breath away. Older staple hotels in the city, like Harrah’s and Circa have old-school Las Vegas charm that can’t be duplicated.

The Strat has a 1,149-foot tall tower called the SkyPod, New York New York has a fun theme, and the Big Apple Coaster, Resorts World has three hotels under one roof, and the Venetian transports its guests to the canals of Venice. Each hotel in Las Vegas offers a unique experience to guests, from the type of architecture and decor to the on-site restaurants, shopping, and gaming opportunities.

Even the smaller hotels, like Excalibur with a stunning castle theme, have something special that allows them to stand out in this city full of hotels. Some hotels are best known for their entertainment, but others make a name for themselves inside the hotel room. Aria is a good example of this with their convenient on-touch technology in every room.

You don’t have to be on the Strip to experience a popular Las Vegas hotel, though! Off-site hotels like Virgin Hotel and Golden Nugget can be just as fun as staying on Las Vegas Blvd.

Comparing Las Vegas Hotels

Since there are so many factors that can set hotels apart from one another, choosing a hotel for your Las Vegas trip can be stressful. Vegas Food and Fun melt that stress away with head-to-head comparisons of similar Las Vegas hotels.

Park MGM vs MGM Grand, Luxor vs Excalibur, Aria vs Cosmopolitan, Venetian vs Palazzo, and Vdara vs Aria are some of the most popular head-to-head comparisons on our site.

Comparing two hotels isn’t the only way to choose your perfect Las Vegas to stay, though. If you know you’re coming to the city with specific needs, that should be the first thing you look at before narrowing down a list of hotels to compare. If you’re traveling as a family, the best hotels for kids will keep everyone happy! If you’re planning a once-in-a-lifetime bachelor or bachelorette trip, Las Vegas suites for 6 or 8 guests are a must.

One of the most important things to avoid is comparing hotels that aren’t in the same category. While they all might be hotels, there’s a big difference between a 4-star hotel and less than a 4-star hotel. A good example of this would be luxury suites. If you’re viewing a luxury suite at Crockford Las Vegas, don’t compare it to a less-than-spectacular hotel just because they’re located close to one another. Instead, compare it to another hotel with luxury accommodations like Red Rock Las Vegas.

Hotels by Location, Budget, and Amenities

There are a few other categories that separate hotels in Las Vegas. Location is one of the most important for tourists visiting Vegas for a specific event.

If you’re attending a concert or sporting event, hotels close to T Mobile Arena should be at the top of your list. People coming to town for the National Finals Rodeo will prefer to book hotels near the Thomas and Mack Center and those coming for a little bit of everything Sin City has to offer will be the happiest at one of the mid-strip Vegas hotels.

Once you’ve found a hotel in the perfect location, you have to find a hotel with the right amenities to meet your needs. Some amenities are pretty standard, like hotels with a balcony, pet-friendly policy, or honeymoon suites, but other amenities are harder to come by. If you’re looking to book a hotel with a jacuzzi in-room or complimentary breakfast for hotel guests, the list of possible hotels goes down significantly.

An amenity that can help your trip go more smoothly is an airport shuttle included with your hotel stay. If you’re traveling during the colder fall or winter seasons, booking a hotel with an indoor pool will really make you feel like you’re on a tropical getaway! Some other hotel amenities to look for include:

The majority of people looking for a place to stay in Las Vegas have a budget. Your budget might be much higher than another traveler’s, but sticking to whatever budget you put in place is one of the most important steps to making a positive travel experience. Going over budget for your hotel makes it nearly impossible to stay on budget for the rest of your Las Vegas expenses!

When you’re searching different hotels, you’ll quickly notice something that hotels in other cities don’t usually have – a resort fee. Our Las Vegas resort fees guide puts this into perspective so you know what you’re gaining by paying the fee. If you decide the resort fee won’t fit into your budget, there are several Las Vegas hotels without resort fees too.

If you’re working with a tight budget, all-inclusive family resorts take the guesswork out of calculating the cost of meals and drinks. There are more cheap hotels on the Strip and Fremont Street than you realize! Even some of the best 5-star hotels in Vegas have cheap suites available.

You’ll find the lowest rates at smaller hotels with basic amenities, such as Mardi Gras Hotel and Circus Circus. When a hotel has the right combination of location and amenities with a price that fits your budget, you know you’ve found the right place to book your Las Vegas stay!

Notable Las Vegas Hotels

It’s a common misconception that most Las Vegas hotels offer a similar experience. While every hotel might give you a glimpse into Vegas living, no two are exactly alike. There’s no doubt that some Las Vegas hotels deserve special notoriety. The newest hotel in Las Vegas, the most expensive hotel, the newest hotel on the Strip, and the biggest party hotel have all earned a special shout-out!
